Tested to work fast and stable on Lubuntu 24.04 LTS amd64.
I think you can bump version to 0.8.20 and make a stable release.
I hope this amazing text editor will be integrated again in official debian packages.
I'd found similar package in 24.04: "l3afpad" but it didn't work well, it was slow and with high Xorg CPU load.
