The Wyze Doorbell is easy to flash with Thingino without any disassembly needed.
- Wyze Doorbell V1 (WVDB1)
- Micro USB to USB OTG Adapter
- USB-A to USB-A cable
Remove the grey rubber cover over the micro USB port on the rear of the doorbell
- Setup cloner per the setup guide
- If using Windows be sure to install the driver (included with cloner download)
- Make your connections:
- One end of the USB-A cable goes into the OTG adapter, The other USB-A end goes to your computer
- The microUSB female plug on the OTG adapter plugs into the camera
- You may want to add a power adapter and plug it into the OTG Adapter for more power
- After these connections are made, validate the cloner device shows up under dmesg in Linux or Device Manager on Windows. Under Windows make sure the driver was found, and if not, click the device and update the driver using the included files. Also refer to this video for Windows.
- Unplug the camera temporarily.
- Run & configure cloner for the correct SOC (likely T31X) and firmware file using the setup guide
- Click "Start" and plug the micro USB on the OTG adapter back into the doorbell
- Flashing should begin. If you receive an error, check to make sure you have chosen the correct SOC in cloner. The WVDB1 is almost always a T31X and be sure to grab the correct T31X Thingino firmware.
- If all goes well, cloner will finish and you can click "Stop" and you should see the "THINGINO-" config wifi network appear.
