Writing a Course

Basic Guidelines

  • Make sure you don't cover material, try to let the reader uncover the material.
  • Teach concepts in the course, give the common sense in practice problems. See FAQ for a first grade example.

Writing Hints

  • Hints should preferably be a question, in the effort to guide the reader's thoughts.
  • Never give away part of the answer or solution in a hint.

Writing Solutions

  • No manipulation or action is "obvious". Always show every step, no matter how simple.
  • Whenever something is not at all obvious, write about why you're doing it.
  • If you are only able to be doing something because certain conditions exist, state them.
