Obtaining and Configuring a Domain Name

Your site will need either a domain name (example.com) or a subdomain (myproject.example.com). Projects that are initiated from within a university or other corporate entity may need to contact their IT departments to arrange for the creation of a subdomain, or to inquire about third-party domain purchasing policies. Domain names can be purchased from any third-party domain name provider. We prefer hover.com (affiliate link) but any service will be fine. Once a domain name is obtained, you will need to point it to the server that hosts your Omeka installation.

If your project is hosted by Curatescape, you can point your domain using the following nameservers: ns1.reclaimhosting.com, ns2.reclaimhosting.com.
