Custom theme profiles and optional gamification elements like ranks and achievements make note-writing more enjoyable. You can expect all the essential features like: save as; recent files; print; find; replace; spell check; word wrap; and word count. Additionally, KuroNote offers AES encryption which enables you to password-protect your notes, and a fullscreen mode which does what you think it does.

Version 2.1.0.0 introduced the RTF Mode option; KuroNote can toggle between plain text and rich text procedures for editing, opening/saving files, and copying/pasting text. Spell Check Dictionary Editor

KuroNote 2.2.0.0 spell check dictionary editor

Use the right-click context menu on spelling mistakes to "Add to Dictionary", so that words that are not recognised by WPF's default dictionary are not flagged as mistakes in the future. The custom spell check dictionary is also directly editable (under Tools > Spell Check Dictionary Editor...), which enables the user to add or remove many words very quickly.

Changes

  • Added spell check suggestions, "Ignore All", "Add to Dictionary", "Undo", and "Select All" items to the custom right-click context menu.
  • Added character count, with and without spaces, and "Average characters per word" information to the word count dialog.
  • New "Auto-open encrypted files" enabled option added (in Options > General) which enables/disables KuroNote automatically opening files in a new instance after they have been encrypted or decrypted.
  • New icon added to the recent files list (File > Open Recent) to denote RTF files, and some existing recent files icons have changed.
  • Recent files are now automatically removed if they fail to load (e.g., file moved/deleted).
  • KuroNote now asks for confirmation before clearing all recent files.
  • KuroNote now offers to enable RTF Mode if the user attempts to open an RTF file while RTF Mode is disabled.
  • "My Profile..." window now refreshes its information every time it is opened.
  • If missing, AppData folders are now automatically created by KuroNote itself, instead of the installer.
  • Fixed bug where recent files would sometimes not be added to the list of recent files.
  • Reworked the names of some ranks.

System Requirements

  • Windows 10/11 (64bit).
  • .NET Core Runtime 3.1 (Desktop) - if missing, KuroNote will simply prompt the user to download this during installation.

Fullscreen

Click the new "Enter Fullscreen" icon next to the options gear icon to toggle Fullscreen. Fullscreen is a self-explanatory immersive writing environment where you really get to appreciate your custom image backgrounds.

Changes

  • Updated branding globally!
  • Major preset themes overhaul - almost all of them have improved readability.
  • RGB values are now visible in custom theme manager.
  • Custom theme manager opacity slide preview now only updates after a tiny interval instead of every millisecond - improves performance.
  • New "UniformToFill" default image background scaling method preserves original aspect ratio by automatically changing zoom - no more distortion!
  • New "Stretch image backgrounds" disabled option added (in Options > Interface) that can toggle between the new "UniformToFill" and old "Stretch" image background scaling methods.
  • New "Auto word selection" disabled option added (in Options > Text) that enables/disables default "caret snaps to words" functionality.
  • New "Overtyping (insert key)" enabled option added (in Options > Text) that enables/disables default "Insert" (INS key) functionality.
  • Removed confusing "Remember Font Up/Down" and "Override theme font size" options. These have been condensed into a single new "Remember font size" enabled option (in Options > Text). Essentially the user's font size will now always be preserved, regardless of theme, if this is enabled.
  • Font dialog (Format > Font...) now recognises non-standard font sizes.
  • The dialogs for find, replace, AES encryption and AES decryption now have auto-focus. As soon as you open them, you can start typing without having to click in a box.
  • Removed 3 themes: "Spotless Snow", "Bold Gold" and "Sparkly Pink".
  • Added 7 new themes: "Immerse", "Deep Red", "Geometric", "Cotton Cloudy", "Holographic", "PCB" and "Tight-knit".
  • Added 5 new achievements.

System Requirements

  • Windows 10/11 (64bit)
  • .NET Core Runtime 3.1 (Desktop) - if missing, you will simply be instructed to download this during installation.
