Summary

KuroNote 2.2.0.0 promotional image

A text editor that allows you to set any picture you like as a background!

With a focus on customisability and intuitiveness, KuroNote is a Notepad-like text editor with personality. It's designed for the quick creation of beautiful notes. Custom theme profiles and optional gamification elements like ranks and achievements make note-writing more enjoyable. You can expect all the essential features like: save as; recent files; print; find; replace; spell check; word wrap; and word count. Additionally, KuroNote offers AES encryption which enables you to password-protect your notes, and a fullscreen mode which does what you think it does.

Version 2.1.0.0 introduced the RTF Mode option; KuroNote can toggle between plain text and rich text procedures for editing, opening/saving files, and copying/pasting text. RTF Mode provides the essential rich text customisation controls, so you can keep using KuroNote even when you need to open or create an ".rtf" file.

Spell Check Dictionary Editor

KuroNote 2.2.0.0 spell check dictionary editor

Use the right-click context menu on spelling mistakes to "Add to Dictionary", so that words that are not recognised by WPF's default dictionary are not flagged as mistakes in the future. The custom spell check dictionary is also directly editable (under Tools > Spell Check Dictionary Editor...), which enables the user to add or remove many words very quickly.

Changes

  • Added spell check suggestions, "Ignore All", "Add to Dictionary", "Undo", and "Select All" items to the custom right-click context menu.
  • Added character count, with and without spaces, and "Average characters per word" information to the word count dialog.
  • New "Auto-open encrypted files" enabled option added (in Options > General) which enables/disables KuroNote automatically opening files in a new instance after they have been encrypted or decrypted.
  • New icon added to the recent files list (File > Open Recent) to denote RTF files, and some existing recent files icons have changed.
  • Recent files are now automatically removed if they fail to load (e.g., file moved/deleted).
  • KuroNote now asks for confirmation before clearing all recent files.
  • KuroNote now offers to enable RTF Mode if the user attempts to open an RTF file while RTF Mode is disabled.
  • "My Profile..." window now refreshes its information every time it is opened.
  • If missing, AppData folders are now automatically created by KuroNote itself, instead of the installer.
  • Fixed bug where recent files would sometimes not be added to the list of recent files.
  • Reworked the names of some ranks.

System Requirements

  • Windows 10/11 (64bit).
  • .NET Core Runtime 3.1 (Desktop) - if missing, KuroNote will simply prompt the user to download this during installation.
