Our activities

We have done, are doing, and hope to do a lot to impact the bioinformatics space in Kenya, East Africa and Africa in general. Our goal is to create a skilled bioinformatics workforce through creating awareness and teaching. Check out our wiki pages for our activities.

June project: The ToolHub

In June, we are piloting a brand-new initiative dubbed "The ToolHub". Bioinformatics involves a wide range of analyses, and the availability of numerous tools can often lead to confusion and uncertainty about which tools to use for specific tasks. The goal of the ToolHub program is to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the available tools for different analysis processes. By exploring the tools and discussing their benefits and drawbacks, participants can gain insights into the strengths and limitations of each tool. This knowledge will enable them to make informed decisions about which tools to use based on factors such as processing capacity, data type, anticipated outcomes, and time constraints. Through the ToolHub program, participants will not only learn about specific tools but also develop a deeper understanding of the analysis workflow and the considerations involved in tool selection. By providing guidance on where to begin with the resources at their disposal, the program empowers participants to navigate the complex landscape of bioinformatics tools more effectively.
