Scintilla.NET History

Scintilla is a native library that was created on March 14th, 1999 and has been actively maintained ever since here.

On February 5th, 2015 ScintillaNET was created by Jacob Slusser as a project to add Scintilla functionality into .NET solutions, which can be found here.

On June 8th, 2020 Scintilla.NET was created by Petteri Kautonen as a rewrite of the ScintillaNET project hosted at CodePlex. After many years of contributing to that project, he decided to think differently about the API he helped create and felt a better one could be made if I was willing to go back to a blank canvas. Thus, this project is the spiritual successor to the original ScintillaNET but has been written from scratch. (This project with one letter '.' difference continues keeping the code base alive).

On December 6th, 2023 the active maintenance and work on Scintilla.NET was transferred to Brandon Desjarlais. Initial plans are to do minor maintenance. Long term plans are to move ScintillaLexers into Scintilla.NET and create another project that contains all of the other satellite assemblies/projects (ScintillaDiff, UrlDetect, SpellCheck, FindReplace).
