How do I report issues with the tool?

We prefer that all issues with Anamnesis be reported here via the Issues tab. This ensures we are able to give each query the attention it deserves, and prevents issues from being lost amongst busy Discord channels. This also allows you, as the user, to see our progress on issues at a glance, as well as keep track on future features.

Reporting issues requires a Github account. We have chosen this route to disuade people from simply spamming questions that have already been answered in this wiki, or on Discord. Issues should only be reported if they are legitimate bugs, or if the issue legitimately hasn't been covered in our extensive documentation. Please bare in mind that this project is worked on voluntarily during our free time, so we don't have time to waste assisting people who refuse to help themselves first.

Can I be banned for using this tool?

Anamnesis edits data on the client's side, not the server. Technically, the only way SE can know if you're using Anamnesis or, for that matter, any other third party tool, is if

  1. they have physical access to the computer you play on
  2. you announce in some manner that you're using third-party tools, or
  3. they start implementing checks in the game itself (note that it was stated in a Live Letter in 2020 that they are not prepared to do this).

Essentially, as long as you don't make it obvious that you're using the tool by way of having visible identifying information such as your character's name and World, or images posted to public-facing social media suggesting the use of a third party tool on an account that can easily be linked to your SE account, you have nothing to worry about.

Can any changes I make in the tool be sent back to the server?

As of August 2020, there have been no confirmed cases of client-side data being sent back to the server. We have created multiple trial accounts and made many obvious edits that should hypothetically be picked up by SE, including body features that should not be available to a character made in 2021 such as the Legacy (Meteor Survivor) tattoo, and have yet to receive any warnings.

The tool will automatically revert all changes made to your character, then grey itself out when you enter any form of character generation to prevent changes being sent to the server as a precaution nonetheless. It is recommended that you save any appearances you wish to keep before entering a character editing screen so you can load them when you are finished.

Why won't the weather change?

The weather system operates much in the same way as it does in game. Ensure you have turned off the 'Stop Time' function to force a weather change.

How do I get other people to pose with me?

The easiest method is to have friends with you as you go into GPose, as they are already considered Player actors. If you cannot get people to assist you, however, you are able to use a variety of in-game entities. Further details can be found in the Using Other Entities as Extra Actors tutorial.

My hair is clipping into my head, how do I fix this?

This occurs when a loaded pose has modified the hair bones. This can be easily remedied by turning Physics on, then off again. Please keep in mind, however, that this may reset any changes made to long items like skirts, capes, etc., and as such they will need to be posed again.

How do I move clothing?

Depending on the piece of gear, you may be able to manipulate certain parts, as listed in the question above. As a general rule of thumb, if it moves in the wind in-game, it can be moved around. The applicable bones can easily be found in the PoseGUI tab, or in the last row of toggles in the Posing Matrix tab. It is highly recommended that you enable parenting when doing this.

I've finished using the tool; is there anything special I need to do?

Once you've finished your posing, close the tool and change areas, ensuring you have forced a loading screen (eg. the area title card appears). A simple example is moving from New Gridania to Old Gridania. However, if you've been doing substantial edits and poses over a long period of time, it's generally a good idea to exit the game and start it up again to make sure there are no garbage memory edits lingering around.

I loaded a pose and I'm floating in mid-air! What do I do?

This generally happens when the pose was made on a player that was sitting. There are two very simple ways to fix this:

  1. move yourself down along the Y axis in the Pose tab so your actor is where you want them to be; or
  2. reset your pose, sit down, then reload that pose.
