Packaging and Releasing Poses and Scenes
Pose files are generally distributed as single .pose
, and similarly scenes are distributed as .scene
files. These in and of themselves are easy to release in the same way pose files for Concept Matrix are released, usually via upload to the Crystalline Means Discord, or directly to the XIV Mod Archive.
Collections of poses and/or scenes should be packed into an archive- the type of archive is up to you, as long as it's easy for other users to extract. The easiest method to pack files into a single archive is using Windows built-in Zip feature, which can be achieved following these steps:
- Select all the files to be archived
- Right click on one
- Choose
Send To
- Choose
Compressed (zipped) folder
From there you can rename the newly-created .zip
file and upload that as part of your pose release.
The XIV Mod Archive has strict requirements for the automatic addition of releases to the archive, which is done by the Curator Bot. As such, releases on Discord MUST use the following format, including the specific emoji used to ensure the bot can pick it up correctly, and posted in the correct channel:
:white_medium_small_square: **Name:**
:white_small_square: **Race:**
:white_small_square: **Genders:**
:white_small_square: **Tags:**
:white_small_square: **Comments:**
:white_small_square: **Preview Image:**
:white_small_square: **Download:**
+ Drop the .pose, .scene, or pack here.
- If it's a pack of files, make sure you upload them as a .zip, .rar or .7z.
Releasing your poses directly on the Archive is very simple, as it will provide you with a pre-formatted code block to paste directly into the applicable release channel on Discord. The steps to do this are detailed in this infographic created by Illyriana.
◽ Name: Name of your pose.
▫️ Race: What Race was pose made for?
▫️ Genders: Male, Female, Unisex. Add them as needed, separated by commas.
▫️ Tags: Use single word that describes your pose, separated by commas.
▫️ Comments: If applicable, make only comments if their is need for adjustment, what mods are useful for this pose and such. Please keep this to a minimum- you can always modify this later on XIV Mod Archive to provide further details.
▫️ Preview Image: Post a screenshot or link to a preview image. Refrain from posting more than one image to keep the channels clean.
▫️ Download: Drop a link down here. You can do this either by posting the direct link to the file, or as an attachment in a following comment.
When releasing a pose, try to get a preview image that is well-lit, and displays the pose(s) clearly. You may also want to consider showing the pose from multiple angles in your preview image. It is also highly recommended that you keep your preview image as tasteful and worksafe as possible.
The developers of Anamnesis do not support or condone the paywalling of pose or scene files. Anamnesis is a free, open source tool, and as such we believe that files made with the tool should in turn be provided freely. However, we do concede that creating poses takes considerable time and effort, so we do support the use of 'tipjar' services such as Ko-fi as a means to provide fans of one's work to say thank you, and timed paywall mods via services like Patreon, Ko-fi or Gumroad.
With regard to comissioned poses, we believe that you're paying for a person's time as opposed to a product.
Ultimately, what you decide to do with your money is up to you.
