3.3V Voltage Regulator
After a failure of the previous 3.3 volt regulator a solution was found by using the LT1587CT-3.3 voltage regulator. The spec sheet can be found here.
Here is the pin-out of the actual part:
A heatsink will need to be mounted onto the tab and electrically insulated, seeing as the tab is also an output. The actual part looks lightly different than the picture shown here
The below is the circuit layout:
Here Vin is connected to the 6 Volt rail, controlled by the motor battery, and Vout is going to the 3.3 Volt rail. The adj pin shown in the circuit pin-out is the ground. Where C1 and C2 are both 10 micro-farads.
Note: While the circuit has only one ground two leads are used to connect the 3.3V ground and the 6V ground. Also Note: the proper way to turn on the bot is first switch 1 (logic), then switch 2 (motor). A quick indication that this is working properly is to see that all three red and yellow LEDs are on for the power rails.
