This will be an attempt at a transcript of the "Future of M2" session at the end of the workshop.

Things to watch out for in M2:

  • Finite field GBs in the engine
  • Speeding up decompose/primary decomposition
  • Speeding up integral closure
  • More robust coefficient rings

Wish List:

  • Parallel processing!
  • How-to add engine code help file
  • Video clips for how to build M2 / debug M2 code / or use github with M2
  • A way of detecting indecomposable modules? Use NCAlgebra?
  • Global table of contents across all known packages. (raise an issue on github for this)
  • Engine/interpreter workshop?
  • Focused workshops on a particular topic?
