To run your first calculation, please follow the steps below:
- Go to the
Source
tab. - Add new radionuclide by clicking button.
- Choose desired radionuclide from the list
- Set radionuclide activity in the second column by double click on the value.
- Repeat step 2-4 to add more radionuclides.
- Choose form of an extended source (cylinder or parallelepiped) and set its dimensions. Default discreteness could be increased to make a better result for each dimension. To edit dimension double click on desired value.
- Choose material of the extended source. Effective periodic number (Z) and default material density could be corrected by user.
- Navigate to the
Shielding
section by clicking on the header of the tab. - If you wish to add a layer of protection between the source and the dose point, click the button.
- Parameters of the parallelepiped shield layers are available in appeared window.
- New shield layer will appear in shields list.
- Navigate to the
Buildup
section by clicking on the header of the tab. There are lists of available methods for evaluation buildup factors. Note that method of calculation of buildup factor for homogeneous medium is used in method of calculation of buildup factor for heterogeneous medium.
- Navigate to the
Output
tab to configure output value parameters. - Choose desired type of dose factor and exposure geometry. If the “Equivalent dose” type is selected, the
Organ/Tissue
list will be available.
- Input coordinates of dose point.
- The next dose point could be added by clicking the “Add” button. Evaluation result will contain result for all dose point presented in
List of dose points
. - To launch calculation, click button located on the toolbar.
- If the calculation is too long or the input parameters need to be changed, you can stop the calculation by pressing the
Abort
button. - When the calculation is complete, the result will appear in the
Estimation results
window.
