Platform: Amstrad CPC

I use MAME for Amstrad CPC, I have not tried the retroarch specific Amstrad core.

The CPCrulez website images have all generally worked. It also generally has manuals for practically every game on there. Amstrad is a bit of an obscure computer, but it appears to have pretty good graphics and sound, the MAME emulation has been pretty solid, and the ports of the games are pretty good.
