Compatible linux operating systems

All major distributions of linux are compatible with EM processing:

• CentOS 5+
• Ubuntu 12+
• Red Hat 6+
• Scientific Linux 6+

NOTE: Many software packages below assume 64-bit OS

Software required on individual workstations

• Relion (v1.3 or v1.4)
• EMAN (v1.9)
• EMAN2 (v2.1+)
• XMIPP (v2.4)
• SPIDER (v22.03)
• SPIDER (v13.00)
• TiltPicker (import-patched)
• Chimera (v1.10.2+)
• git
• ResMap

All of these packages are offered through the SBGrid consortium.

All software packages should be loaded simultanesouly into the user $PATH and $PYTHONPATH.

Software dependencies

• numpy: http://numpy.scipy.org
• scipy: http://scipy.org
• wxPython: http://www.wxpython.org
• python imaging library (PIL): http://www.pythonware.com/products/pil

Software paths expected to be in users $PATH & $PYTHONPATH:

• 'spider' and 'spidermp': Spider bin directories
• 'chimera': UCSF Chimera
• 'ApTiltPicker_import.py': ApTiltPicker_import.py
• Requires python path to be set according to doc 'ApTiltPicker/docs/INSTALL.txt'

Software required on computing clusters

• Relion (v1.3 or v1.4)
