Stygian Iron is the Tier 1 material. To create a Stygian Iron Ingot, you must either smelt down a Stygian Dragon Egg or craft it using a full durability, unmodified green essence item and some regular iron ingots. Only a blast furnace will allow you to heat this metal hot enough to purify it. The method and crafting recipe for doing this can be seen below;

It can also be crafted by smelting a Stygian Dragon Egg in a blast furnace, producing 1 Raw Stygian Iron Slag.
